These festive Ōhelo berries caught my eye on my most recent macro photography adventure: in fact, they were so full of Christmas spirit that I couldn’t resist transforming them into a cheerful little card. Hawai’i might not have snow, but we still celebrate the winter holidays in style! (To experience some of my Hawaiian Christmas joy, check out this wonderful (if slightly old!) article by witty linguist extraordinaire Gretchen McCulloch about some of the etymological history of “Mele Kalikimaka.”)
To you, my dear friends, I wish you a very merry Christmas (if you celebrate it!) and a happy holiday season in general! Here’s hoping that all your outgoing mail reaches its destination on time and you get to spend some time with the people and places that are meaningful to you.
As for me, I’ll be setting out on a Christmas morning forest-hike and wishing for washi tape under the tree!
