Pathless Woods

Hello from England, my friends! I’m writing this post as one still jet-lagged and bewildered (even after eleven hours of sleep!), but couldn’t wait to show a few photos of my first day of adventures here.

You wouldn’t think that tropical Hawai’i and the British Isles have too much in common–and yet there were moments during this first forest expedition when I recognized similar plants and natural features like old friends. Ferns and gorse and unexpected showers: sounds just like Volcano to me!

You certainly wouldn’t find an old windmill in a Hawaiian forest, though!

These shots are dedicated to my dad, an eternal fan of erosion and interesting rock striations.

We encountered a crumbling observatory, too–I found my head swirling with story ideas!

And I’ll close with a literal “over the garden wall” image!

Though the flight nearly did me in, I’m very excited to be on vacation in such a lovely place. I’ll try to update semi-regularly and recount some more English adventures next week!

  1. Think the longest flight I’ve experienced was about 4 hours so no idea what those long ones are like but I imagine hellish! Good to see that you’ve recovered enough from it to go back to the woods xD Hope you enjoy the rest of you England adventure (how long are you there for?) and that the weather stays decent for you!

    • To be fair, the trip to England was nothing like a trip to Hawai’i so I shouldn’t complain 😀 I’m here until the end of the week, and we’ve had some pretty nice weather these past few days! Here’s hoping it stays!
