a very Pre-Raphaelite Halloween

What do you call a redhead without a Halloween costume? Instant Pre-Raphaelite. I didn’t have the chance to come up with a fancy ensemble this year (as much as I wanted to be, like, pin-up BB-8 or something), so I decided to emulate my favorite school of painting instead. Luckily for me, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was semi-obsessed with mystical gingers and I have a magical forest right at my fingertips!

The key ingredients for your average Pre-Raphaelite look include:

  • vaguely Arthurian garments–which can be replaced with a pretty shawl if you’re short on time!
  • a jeweled or floral crown
  • wildly wavy hair
  • some kind of relatively pensive or introspective expression

If I lived on by the sea, I would’ve gone as Waterhouse’s Miranda, but I had to settle for a more Dicksee-like sylvan setting.

Am I desperately trying to work some magic or waiting for an enchanted hawk to perch on my hand? The world may never know!

Which work of art would you like to dress up as for Halloween, if you were so inclined?

    • Hahaha, that’s fabulous 😀 Yeah, I just wore my usual clothes to work on Halloween proper and everyone assumed I was in costume as Nancy Drew…the drawbacks of wearing slightly weird vintage clothes year-round!

      • Haha, love it! I’d say keep it up, just convince people that you love Halloween so much that you go in costume every day and that that’s not just your everyday wardrobe xD
