Valentines from the Valley

To satisfy some creative impulses and a desire to envelop myself in a cocoon of happy, I’m-part-of-a-community emotions, I signed up for a handmade valentine swap this year–all with colleagues and neighbors! I received a list of ten local residents to whom to send a little bit of anonymous love, and waited for my own valentines to roll in.

Be forewarned: they’re almost too cute to handle!

So far, I’ve received seven of my ten expected cards: though honestly, I feel like these on their own are bounty enough alone!

Some people really took creative approaches to the definition of “valentine.” I love this heart-shaped light-catcher…

…and the elegant, transparent feathers that accompany it!

I admire the patience it must have taken to stitch this heart so elegantly!

My very limited expertise as a card connoisseur suggests that there might be some handmade paper involved here. Even if not, though, the colors are perfect!

(So are ALL of the colors featured here!)

I hope you enjoy a happy Valentine’s Day – and that it’s full of hearts and cute Cyclopean monsters!

    All so cute!
By the way, I will have my response to you’re letter in the post tomorrow! It’s not valentine’s themed because it’ll be arriving long after but it’s being send out on valentine’s day so close enough xD Hopefully it’ll arrive by the end of the month…which I have just realised is pancake Tuesday…ooh, I should have made the letter pancake themed!

I’ll be so excited to see your letter, Emma! Very glad that my long-lost one from Hawai’i finally reached you. A pancake-themed letter sounds like the most hilarious idea ever; I’m filing that one away for future plans! 😛

Is it common for letters from Hawaii to take a while to get places? Maybe it’s relaxed island nature being imbued into the letters xD
